This post is sponsored by Google, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
As much as I wish I could just unplug from the rest of the world and stay off my phone and social media, my job requires me to be constantly plugged in. Don’t get me wrong, I take breaks here and there to regroup and refocus on the more important people and things in life. But as a mom, blogger and graphic designer it’s important to me to always be able to jump on my phone or computer without worrying about getting a good connection. Whether I’m googling if my daughter needs to go the hospital because of the weird rash on her skin (I know you’ve all been there) or finishing up a blog post that’s due the next day (because we all procrastinate) the last thing I need is my Wi-Fi not to work. Oh and most importantly I need my Netflix shows to load as quickly as possible 😉
So you’ve probably seen the commercials for Google’s new line of gadgets, one being the new Google Wifi System. Isn’t it pretty?! I was so excited to try it out because we’ve had a serious connection problem in our house, particularly our bedroom. Our router was located in the living room downstairs, not terribly far away but for some reason, the Wi-Fi connection upstairs was brutal. It would take forever to load things on my phone and if Dan and I tried to watch Netflix or rent a movie off our Apple TV, they would buffer like crazy. One night we couldn’t even watch the movie we had just bought because it kept freezing and wouldn’t load literally until the next day. Such a terrible problem I know 😉
Setting up the Google Wifi is super easy. If you live in a small house or apartment, you can buy the package that comes with 1 device. Since our house is a decent size, we got the package with 3 devices. This helps spread out the connection and ensures it’s strong in every room of the house. Google even has an App you can download that walks you through the setup step by step.
The first device you hook up has to connect into your modem. You just plug in the ethernet cord and the power cord and you’re good to go.
Once the App locates your device it will prompt you to create your new network name and password, which can be whatever you like. Our first device is located on the first floor in our living room. Once that device was all set up, the other devices just require a power cord connection. I put one on my desk in our bedroom and one downstairs in the basement (aka my FIL’s mancave).
I mean just look at how cute this little guy is! It has this soft glow on at all times so you know it’s connected. I was a little worried about this because I need it to be pitch black when I sleep. But Google thought of everything. You can just log into your app and adjust the brightness of each individual device, turning it all the way off if you want. The app has so many other cool features like setting up a guest network for visitors, controlling the amount of Wi-Fi time a device can have (perfect for your littles!) and checking how strong your connection is.
I honestly don’t even feel like the Google Wifi is a piece of technology. It fits in with my decor so well and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb like most routers and other devices do.
And I can’t even tell you how much of a difference it makes! I immediately noticed a difference up in our bedroom where I spend a lot of time. My phone used to load suuuper slowly but that doesn’t happen anymore.
Those days when the bed is my office, I can just snuggle in and not worry about having to go downstairs and restart our router to get a better connection.
And now we can binge watch without interruption 🙂
The connection is so strong throughout the whole house; even in rooms where there isn’t a device. I spend alllottt of time in our laundry room (I don’t know who’s messier, my husband or Eloise) so I like to bring my phone with me to play some music or just stay connected. It makes doing laundry just a little bit more enjoyable.
I don’t know about you but anything that makes my life a little easier AND looks pretty, is basically a win win in my book. I have enough going on day to day that the last thing I want to deal with is slow internet. Google Wifi to the rescue.
These babies would make an awesome Christmas present, so be sure to check them out!
Big thanks to Google for sponsoring this post. Thanks for supporting the brands that allow me to keep doing what I do and sharing cool stuff with you!

What a neat product! I’m seriously in love with the streamlined minimal design – beats a giant ugly router any day! Will have to check them out once they aren’t backordered! 😀

I love this! We have a small home (1600ft2) and a brand new router but we STILL have issues with our wi-fi. The husband would love to have one of these for sure!

We had the same problem! You should totally look into it!
