Sooo I’ve been keeping a little secret from you guys. Things have been absolutely nuts over here the past few weeks but I can finally spill the beans.
WE’RE MOVING!
Let’s rewind back to when it all started. We rent our current home and haven’t even been here a year. One night our landlord called Dan telling him he was moving to North Carolina and had to sell our house and we had to move out. Awesome. But around the same time, a certain head coach got fired from his job, which just happened to be Dan’s dream job. For those of you who don’t know, Dan is a Junior College baseball coach. He’s been at the same job for 8 years and has always had dreams of coaching at the Division I level.
So when we got the call from our landlord, we thought just maybe this could all work out.
A lot of prayers and positive vibes later…I couldn’t be more proud of my hubby for landing this amazing dream job of his. His passion for baseball is one of the many things I love about him. And the fact that he gets to do it as his full time job is amazing. There were a lot of struggles he faced at his previous job. Things like the high cost of the school, low recruiting budget, crappy facilities and having to drive vans to every away game. But he made the absolute most of it and turned the program around and built an amazing foundation for whoever will be taking it over. He cared for his players like they were family, and made them not only better players, but better people.
Hearing his current and past players refer to him as the best coach they ever had, and tell him it was an honor to play for him absolutely makes my heart burst with joy. Not that it surprises me in any capacity. He’s the most positive person I know and that attitude and his drive to succeed has made it easy for him to recruit and find guys who trust him as a coach before they even sign their papers.
This isn’t just about a job, it’s about so much more. We get to return to Dan’s hometown in Youngstown, OH where he gets the opportunity to have an impact and positively influence the community he grew up in. His Dad is also a baseball coach and has been living by himself for the past 6 years, since Dan’s mom passed away. Having us move home to OH means so much to him as he’s shared in this dream of Dan’s. He’s always helped in finding recruits and the best players in the area to send Dan’s way, and now he’ll get to do that locally.
We’ll be moving in with his Dad, into the house that Dan grew up in, which will eventually become ours, but for now we’ll all live together. There are definite renovations we would love to do down the road, but for now I’ll have the master bedroom to occupy my time. Of course this all happened when I was in the middle of a room makeover ha. I’ll be sharing a few pics of how things ended up in our current room but now I’ll have a clean, new slate to start from. And I’ll definitely share some pics soon once things settle down.
God answered all our prayers and we couldn’t help but feel totally grateful and overwhelmed by all his blessings. From my decision to staying home with Eloise, to getting kicked out of our house, everything fell perfectly in place. It feels good, and it just feels right.
Things are moving super fast! We’ve been in Ohio since Tuesday, Dan had his press conference yesterday which was awesome. We’ve been getting some things sorted out and getting a head start on moving, and we plan to be out of our current place by July 1st. Eek! We’ve made some great friends and memories in Erie, PA but it’s time to move on to our next adventure in Youngstown, OH and we couldn’t be more excited.
Bare with me as I take a little break from bloggy stuff while we get settled, but I’ll be back soon and I’ll have a giant master bedroom and en suite bathroom to tackle 😉
