I’m not sure how I managed to pull off a post for our Monthly DIY Challenge in the middle of the One Room Challenge but luckily I figured something out that I could use in the laundry room. This month we’re all using reclaimed wood. We had some leftover base that we didn’t need to put back up and I knew it would make the perfect piece of wood to transform into something else. So I made a Reclaimed Wood Laundry Lint Basket Holder.
RECLAIMED WOOD LAUNDRY LINT BASKET HOLDER
It wasn’t in the best shape, so I started out by sanding it down with my power sander.
This idea came after I did these first few steps. I knew I needed to make something with reclaimed wood so I just went ahead and sanded it down and stained it before the idea actually came to me.
I tried Special Walnut first which is what I’ve been using on everything else in the laundry room, but the wood wasn’t soaking it up as well so I went with Dark Walnut instead and it was perfect.
So much better!
Once I figured out my plan, I used my chop saw to cut it down to the size I wanted. I knew I wanted a little basket for putting lint and other miscellaneous items you find in your pockets (or as the hubby called them, “sprinklets” haha). So I already had the basket and a hook on hand that I picked up from Hobby Lobby. I gave the hook a quick coat of spray paint to match everything else.
Then we just used some drywall anchors and screws to drill into the tile and screw in the piece of wood. Then I just screwed the hook onto the wood and attached my basket!
Perfect for all our sprinklets 😉
And tomorrow is the BIG DAY! Don’t forget to come back and check out the Laundry Room Reveal!!
And be sure to visit all my friend’s awesome projects that they made out of reclaimed wood!
